Head Start Program
Head Start volunteers assist to promote the school readiness of children ages 3 to 5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development. Volunteers serve in Fond du Lac and Green Lake Counties.
Eligibility & enrollment
Head Start volunteers must enjoy sharing their time and experience with children. A background check is required before service can begin. An individual who is registered, or required to be registered, on a state sex offender registry, is ineligible to serve. Head Start volunteers must comply with a strict confidentiality policy. All information learned about children and their families is considered confidential.
Classroom Support Volunteer: Assist children ages 3 to 5 with a variety of learning experiences in the classroom. Activities could include reading, playing games, acting as a role model, listening and talking, participating in crafts, assisting a child with meals or snack, or going on class field trips.
Family Fun Event Volunteer: Assist staff with Family Fun events that take place throughout the school year. The events are designed to emphasize the role of parents as their child's first and most important teacher.
