On March 18, Representative Glenn Grothman visited with ADVOCAP staff in Neenah to learn about our senior food and nutrition programs in Winnebago County. Rep. Grothman joined one of our volunteer meal delivery drivers, met with a meal recipient, and sat down with our team to discuss the importance of senior nutrition programs in our communities.
Nutrition programs have reaching impact for seniors. They ensure access to balanced nutrition, support physical and mental wellbeing, and promote independence. 84% of ADVOCAP meal recipients say they eat healthier foods because of our programs, and 85% of our home delivery participants say they have an improved quality of life. Our meal programs provide critical social interaction for those who have little outside contact and support seniors in maintaining their independence by allowing them to remain in their own homes. 80% of participants say they are able to live freely where they choose with the help of the home delivered meal program.
We thank Congressman Grothman for taking the time to learn about these important programs. ADVOCAP also thanks John, one of our meal delivery drivers, and Barbara, meal recipient, for joining us and sharing their experiences with the program.
Programs like this are essential to the wellbeing of our seniors and play a vital role in strengthening our communities and economy. Learn more about our Nutrition Services in Winnebago County at advocap.org/services/nutrition-services
