Congressman Grothman Visits ADVOCAP Head Start and Opportunity Center

posted April 15, 2025
Thank you to Congressman Glenn Grothman for taking the time today to visit ADVOCAP. We appreciated the opportunity to share the work we’re doing to support low-income individuals and families in our community. During his visit, Rep. Grothman and District Director Sally Cole toured one of our Head Start classrooms and our Opportunity Center in Fond du Lac.
At our Head Start Center, we shared how this vital program prepares children for success in school and life through comprehensive early learning and family support services. Head Start promotes school readiness for children ages 3 and 4, focusing on holistic development in the areas of language, literacy, health, nutrition, and social-emotional growth. Offered at no cost to eligible households in Fond du Lac and Green Lake Counties, our full-day preschool program helps provide a strong foundation for families working toward self-sufficiency.
Representative Grothman also visited our Opportunity Center, where we highlighted the many services we provide, and spent time with our participants to learn about the challenges they’re facing. Since opening in late 2024, the Center has served more than 240 individuals, offering support including meeting basic needs, finding shelter, building employment skills, and accessing mental health and wellness support. Through one-on-one case management, we work to remove barriers and create pathways out of poverty.
We appreciate Representative Grothman taking the time to better understand the needs in our community, the experiences of those we serve, and the essential services ADVOCAP provides.
