The Oshkosh Community YMCA is hosting several activities and events to celebrate Active Aging Week set for October 2-6. Initiated in 2003 by the international Council on Active Aging, the campaign calls attention to and celebrate the positivity of aging.
The Oshkosh Y will offer group exercises class, water-based exercise classes, a free lunch , and presentations sponsored by Home Care Assistance, a community resource fair, blood pressure screenings, an advanced planning presentation and a home safety presentation.
There will be a group walk, chair volleyball, memory screenings, and a foot care clinic. All Active Aging Week programming is free for anyone over age 55. The resource fair is free for anyone age 18 and up. Activities will take place at both the 20th Avenue YMCA and Downtown YMCA locations.
The free community resource fair will be held from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, October 5th at the 20th Avenue location. The fair will feature the Oshkosh Fire Department, Home Care Assistance, ADVOCAP, Winnebago County ADRC, and Oshkosh Public Library.
