Head Start Program

Partnering with families for a brighter future

ADVOCAP believes that the best outcomes for children occur when families and educators work hand in hand. By fostering a strong partnership between our dedicated staff and your family, we create an enriching environment that nurtures both your child's growth and your family’s well-being. Our early child development and pre-school program is designed to provide personalized support for low-income families to help children thrive from the start.

Eligibility is based on many different factors and will be discussed during the enrollment meeting.
Why choose ADVOCAP's Head Start program?
True partnership with families

We recognize that you know your child best. That’s why we collaborate closely with you to develop a customized plan that meets your child’s unique developmental needs. Our pre-school program is tailored to provide individualized attention, ensuring your child receives the support necessary to reach their full potential in early childhood education

Promoting school readiness

ADVOCAP’s Head Start program focuses on promoting the school readiness of children ages 3 to 4 by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. We provide a learning environment that supports your child’s growth in language and literacy, general knowledge, physical development, and health.

More about ADVOCAP Head Start

Center-Based Head Start

Our Head Start services are delivered through a center-based approach, providing 3- and 4-year-old children with a structured, classroom setting. Children attend full-day classes four days a week. Transportation to and from school is available for most of the service area, with some exceptions. During their time at the center, children receive at least two nutritious meals each day. Each classroom is led by a qualified teacher, supported by an assistant teacher, to ensure your child’s learning and development is guided in a nurturing and educational environment.

4-Year-Old Kindergarten

In partnership with participating school districts, ADVOCAP's Head Start Centers also provide four-year-old kindergarten (4K) programming. This full-day program combines 4K services with Head Start services, all delivered at the same location, four days a week. Your child will receive a seamless educational experience, benefiting from both the 4K curriculum and the comprehensive support of Head Start, helping them build a strong foundation for future academic success.

Parent Engagement:
  • Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child's first and most important teacher. Parent and family engagement in Head Start is about building relationships with families that support:
  • Families as learners and lifelong educators
  • Family engagement in transitions
  • Family connections to peers and community
  • Families as advocates and leaders
Community Resources:
  • Successful partnerships within the community bring together the resources of all agencies and programs to best meet child and family needs.  Families are provided with a resource directory to guide them in securing community resources
Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Head Start uses volunteers to the fullest extent possible.  Special efforts are made to have volunteer participation, especially parents, in the classroom, in program governance and in program assessment.
